Places to visit on the trail 2

Places to visit on the Blue Mountains Bruce Trail: Pretty River Valley Side Trail (as of Summer 2024)

Map 23 Bruce Trail Reference Guide Edition 31

Description: At km 46.8 follow the main trail white blazes until the sign for the Pretty River Side Trail, which leaves the main trail at km 48.1.

Getting there: After parking, cross the Pretty River Rd at the marked pedestrian crosswalk to the blue-blazed “Pretty River Access Side Trail”. This is not shown on this map as the trail was opened after the guide was printed. However, the Bruce Trail App is up to date. This will take you uphill to the main white-blazed Trail. Turn right and follow the white blazes until the sign for the Pretty River Side Trail, which leaves the Main Trail at km 48.0. This Side trail heads north through mixed bush to a small kettle lake. Shortly after that, the Trail turns right onto an old logging road, then after a very short distance, turns left into the woods. The Trail crosses the logging road two more times, then heads uphill to rejoin the main trail at km 50. Turn left and follow the white blazes back to the Pretty River Access Side Trail and back to the parking lot. Together, this forms an approximately 7 km loop.

Parking:Park in the free Ontario Parks Lower Pretty River Parking lot at 549949 Pretty River Rd, Nottawa (15 cars). Do not park on the roadside.

Terrain: The Trail travels partly along a lovely stream. Some hills.
