About Us

We are one of the nine clubs that work with the Bruce Trail Conservancy by maintaining the Bruce Trail from Lavender to Craigleith. The terrain changes abruptly as the trail enters our area known as the Blue Mountains. Here are Ontario’s best-known ski resorts, set among high bluffs interspersed with deep wide valleys. From the trail, there are excellent views of the rolling countryside and Nottawasaga Bay. Our area has wonderful hiking opportunities year round. Come on out and enjoy them, we hope to see you on our trails!

Early History of Our Club and the Trail: In this, the 63rd Anniversary year of the Blue Mountains Bruce Trail Club, we are inspired by the following account of the early history of both the Trail and the Club, as written by Dick Edwards:
In his book, “Bruce Trail Stories, 1962- 1967 Memoirs/Vignettes” published in 2022, Mr. Gosling relates the following: “The city hall in Collingwood was the only place I could find to host the potential members of the Blue Mountains Club. I met with George Willis, a friendly man who was interested and learned about local history. He helped me contact a dozen or so locals who were invited to a meeting to start a trail club.” This event occurred at exactly “8:00 pm on Thursday, July 5th, 1962”, as noted by George and June Willis* Read more.
