Hike Difficulty

Pace:
Leisurely: 3 km/hr. or less
Medium: 3 to 4 km/hr
Brisk: 4 to 5 km/hr
Fast: 5+ km/hr
Terrain:
Easy: Mostly flat and usually good footing
Moderate: Some hills and/or some poor footing
Strenuous: Hilly with steep climbs and some poor footing
Please read this over before attending any organized hike:
  • Check distance, pace and terrain of the hike (see above) to ensure it is within your fitness level. Email the hike leader before the hike if you have any questions or concerns.
  • Inform the hike leader if you have any health problems that could affect your hiking performance, (eg. allergies, asthma, diabetes, heart conditions). It is important that you carry all required medications with you. For those who require an EpiPen(s), ensure someone on the hike knows where you carry it.
  • Wear comfortable boots/shoes. Hiking poles help on hills and with balance.
  • Have a backpack or waist pack to carry the following… phone, water, snacks (plus lunch if indicated in hike description), rain gear, spare socks/shoelaces, duct tape, whistle, small first aid kit, extra layers, bug spray, sunscreen, ID/health card.
  • Take a spare pair of shoes to change into at the end of the hike or carry plastic bags to protect the car from muddy boots, and remember your car keys.
