- In the winter of 2025, a small bridge that crossed Leys Burn Creek, located on the Nottawasaga Bluffs Lookout ST, was damaged due to a heavy snow load.
- By March 2026, the NVCA approved our permit application to build a stronger “truss” style bridge to replace the damaged bridge.
- As a first step, wire-mesh gabion baskets were installed on both banks of the creek, approximately 30 metres upstream of the previous bridge location.
- The cribs were dismantled at the old bridge site, and those rocks were then relocated to fill the gabion baskets.
- A single ‘test’ truss was constructed using the old lumber salvaged from the former bridge.
- Work will continue on assembling two additional trusses.
- Once all the trusses are completed, they will be fastened onto the gabions, and the decking can then be installed.
- The final step will be the placement of access ramps on either side of the bridge.
